SAN MARCOS – A teenage boy is facing charges stemming from nearly $10,500 worth of graffiti vandalism in the North County, authorities said.
The boy was arrested Tuesday after a deputy spotted him hanging out in a parked car in San Marcos with at least one other known tagger, said sheriff’s Sgt. Glenn Giannantonio.
The deputy searched the vehicle and found a piece of paper bearing a graffiti moniker that matched one used in a series of recent unsolved vandalism, according to the sergeant.
Police say the boy confessed to spray painting the moniker in San Marcos, Vista and Escondido, and was arrested on suspicion of 39 counts of misdemeanor vandalism, 36 of which took place in San Marcos, Giannantonio said.
His name was withheld because he is a minor.
