The State Government is stepping up security around schools over the holiday season in the wake of several devastating arson attacks.
Deliberately lit fires at schools in Ashwood, Seaford and Berwick in the last fortnight have caused millions of dollars worth of damage.
Several teenagers have been charged over the Ashwood blaze.
The Education Minister Bronwyn Pike says schools can be vulnerable to arson attacks over the holidays when buildings are often empty.
“We need to step up our actions to protect our schools, particularly from people who set about to cause deliberate damage,” she said.
“The education department is increasing its oversight around the clock but we also want the community to play its part”.
