RCDC Riot Indictments 2/1/10

(Pecos)- A dozen former inmates at the Reeves County Dention Center in Pecos have been indicted on charges related to a riot at the prison a year ago.

The indictments were handed down a couple of weeks ago, and allege that the inmates caused the riot that damaged the RCDC Unit 1.

That building was condemned, and had to be rebuilt.

The 12 inmates included: Pedro Baldovinas, Juan Escobedo-Balero, Manuel Mendoza-Morales, Osvaldo Nevarez-Ortiz, Enrique Martinez, Cesar Quintanilla-Benavidez, Jaime Padilla, Joel Inzunza, Juan Gomez, Lorenzo Olivas-Pena, Eduardo Soriano-Velador and Lorenzo Dominguez-Sianez.

All are charged with causing a riot at a federal correctional facility, conspiracy and use of a fire to commit a federal felony offense.

No date has been set just yet.

Sunday marked the one year anniversary of the RCDC riots, which involved more than a thousand inmates, several fires and a lot of damage.

The riot lasted about a week.
