CARTHAGE – Three teenage girls face charges this week that include inciting a riot and disorderly conduct at Samarkand Youth Development Center in Eagle Springs.
Moore County sheriff’s deputies received a call Monday about an assault on a staff member and a large amount of damage to the juvenile center at 3600 Samarkand Road.
The center sustained about $2,400 in damage Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office said Jessica Ann Brewer, 17, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and injury to personal property. Bail was set at $5,000.
Katherine Denise Bradley, 16, was charged with inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and injury to personal property.
Bradley was released back to the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice and transferred to a different facility.
Deputies said they were trying to obtain juvenile petitions for the third teenager on charges of inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and injury to personal property.
