Dozens injured in Hamburg clashes

Forty-seven people have been injured and dozens arrested in clashes between demonstrators and
police after a street festival in the German city of Hamburg, police have said.

Riot police fired water canons as youths threw stones and bottles in the Schanzenviertel neighbourhood early on Saturday.

A group of about 200 people hurled stones at a police station while others raided a computer shop and set cars on fire, said Peter Born, a senior police officer.

He said 28 police officers were among those injured.
