Chase ends with police killing man

Authorities in Bucks County say a police officer shot and killed a burglary suspect following a high-speed pursuit.

Police in Upper Bucks County say 45-year-old Jonathan Fineman had eluded officers during three other recent vehicle chases. On Friday night, police say, he led officers on a pursuit that began in Plumstead and ended a few miles north on Route 611 in Bedminister when he crashed a stolen pickup truck.

Police say Fineman ran from the scene, and an officer fired when he reached toward his waistband. Authorities say they believed Fineman was carrying a handgun taken during a recent burglary, but no gun was found.

It is not clear which police department the officer who fired the gun was from. State police at Dublin, who are investigating the crash but not the shooting, referred calls to Plumstead Township police, who said they would not be releasing information until Monday.

Fineman was a suspect in numerous burglaries and vehicle thefts in Central and Upper Bucks County and was also believed to have committed crimes in Montgomery County, authorities said.

Bucks County First Assistant District Attorney David Zellis said he was on a “one man crime spree” in the area.,0,4396483.story
