Protests over power cuts in two Delhi localities

New Delhi, Aug 12 (PTI) Annoyed over frequent power cuts in their areas, residents of two localities in Delhi came out on the streets and demanded uninterrupted power supply.

Scores of residents of Nangloi in West Delhi last night damaged police vehicles, about 20 buses of Delhi Transport Corporation and some private vehicles after their area witnessed long power cuts.

They also blocked the main road in the area, a senior police official said. The protest continued for over an hour in the area.

Similar protests were witnessed in Mayur Vihar area where residents gathered before the BSES office last night and demanded uninterrupted power supply.

Parts of the capital witnessed load-shedding as the demand rose up to 4103 MW yesterday while the power supply fell short by 292 MW.
